- Abstract (EN)
- Systems engineering of production systems faces increasing pressures due to rising system complexity and shorter product lifecycles, demanding efficient planning and early problem identification. Virtual Commissioning (VC) offers a solution by simulating automation systems during the engineering phase, aiming to identify problems early and to significantly reduce commissioning times. In literature, the need for integration of VC into the planning process supported by organizational measures is emphasized with the improved communication between stakeholders playing a key role. Currently, VC software is expert-operated, thus limiting stakeholder interaction based on the VC simulation. This paper presents advances in creating an interactive and collaborative digital twin for VC. Two main innovations are discussed: cloudhosted VC for simulations accessible for all stakeholders, and Extended Reality interactions for immersive stakeholder collaboration. These approaches improve stakeholder communication, flexibility, and model interaction, complementing simultaneous engineering efforts for more effective production system planning.
