- Abstract (EN)
- This paper presents the Assembly SimKit, a modular tool for simulating and optimizing assembly processes based on the simulation environment WITNESS. Applied to a real construction machinery line, it enabled a detailed dynamic analysis, uncovering hidden time buffers and load fluctuations beyond aggregated production data. Using predefined KPIs, various what-if scenarios were evaluated. The tool allows fast model setup and targeted analysis. Parameters are entered conveniently via Excel, supporting user-friendly configuration and integration into existing planning workflows. The requirements for such a tool as well as its modular architecture are discussed in detail. Assembly SimKit enables a structured, efficient approach to modeling complex assembly systems and supports decision-making in early planning phases. Ongoing developments aim to enhance modeling flexibility, including multi-worker stations and modular buffers.
