- Abstract (EN)
- Simulation-assisted production planning and control is an efficient method of production system optimisation. When researchers and practitioners want to test various algorithms for production plan generation, they require a simulation framework that allows intuitive configuration of key optimisation parameters such as input data, degrees of freedom in planning and performance metrics. We present a software prototype that aims at providing an open-source Python-based simulation backbone to test different system and algorithm configurations in production planning and control. The prototype is built on a comprehensive framework that realistically models production systems. It is controller-agnostic but closely follows the reinforcement learning paradigm of environment specification discerning between observation space, action space and reward functions. Our tool enables a high degree of configurability in each of these elements and paves the way for further research and application.
