- From the Text: Electric vehicles (EVs) offer a more sustainable transportation option compared to traditional vehicles, with reduced CO2 emissions when charged with renewable energy (Jochem et al., 2018). However, the widespread adoption of EVs necessitates a robust charging infrastructure. Currently, the lack of public charging stations and the resulting ‘range anxiety’ hinder EV acceptance (Stockkamp et al., 2021). This situation creates a circular pattern where the lack of infrastructure reduces demand for EVs, discouraging investment in charging networks (Zink et al., 2020). Apart from public infrastructure investments, the sharing of private charging infrastructure, an emerging peer-to-peer (P2P) model in the shared economy (SE), could contribute to addressing this problem. Currently, private charging is the most common method for EV owners (LaMonaca & Ryan, 2022). The idea of making private charging stations publicly accessible through IT-enabled platforms could expand the charging network but depends on user and provider acceptance.
